Congratulations to all who competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Great Lakes Region Student Auditions! The competition included the top singers from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Ontario. The comments from your judges made me proud.
Special congratulations go to: Luke Randazzo, First Place, Upper High School Classical TBB. Luke attends School for Creative and Performing Arts. Jonah Sorscher, First Place (tie), Lower College Music Theater TBB. Jonah is an alumni of Indian Hill High School. Next step is the preliminary round for the National Semi-Finals. Well done, Gentlemen! Spotlight on Julie Fort!
Junior, Sycamore High School My name is Julie Fort and I just got the part of Ariel in Sycamore High School's production of The Little Mermaid! My favorite part of singing is the feeling when you are in front of an audience and you kill your song and adrenaline just floods through you, that’s the best part. I definitely have performance anxiety especially when it comes to auditions, but to get over it I just remind myself of my talent and that they are there to see me not the other way around! Also a lot of deep breathing helps. My advice would be to just keep working hard on your voice and eventually that hard work will pay off, especially if you practice every day! Online lessons have definitely helped me become a better singer and are very practical in this day and age where the virus is a serious factor to consider. Overall, I’m so excited to start working on the Little Mermaid! Congratulations, Julie!! Loved her performance! And this video!
Spotlight on Evelyn Spaeth!
11 Years Old 5th Grade, Columbia Intermediate School Honorable Mention at Los Angeles NATS, Children's Music Theater Division Singing has been a large part of my life ever since I was born. Music was always playing in our house and I quickly discovered that singing brought me joy. I also learned the power of a voice in telling a story through musical theatre. I have been in six productions and have found my passion singing on stage. Whenever I sing I feel most like myself - happy and free. Congratulations, Evelyn!! |
