Spotlight on Julie Fort!
Junior, Sycamore High School My name is Julie Fort and I just got the part of Ariel in Sycamore High School's production of The Little Mermaid! My favorite part of singing is the feeling when you are in front of an audience and you kill your song and adrenaline just floods through you, that’s the best part. I definitely have performance anxiety especially when it comes to auditions, but to get over it I just remind myself of my talent and that they are there to see me not the other way around! Also a lot of deep breathing helps. My advice would be to just keep working hard on your voice and eventually that hard work will pay off, especially if you practice every day! Online lessons have definitely helped me become a better singer and are very practical in this day and age where the virus is a serious factor to consider. Overall, I’m so excited to start working on the Little Mermaid! Congratulations, Julie!!

Spotlight on Evelyn Spaeth!
11 Years Old 5th Grade, Columbia Intermediate School Honorable Mention at Los Angeles NATS, Children's Music Theater Division Singing has been a large part of my life ever since I was born. Music was always playing in our house and I quickly discovered that singing brought me joy. I also learned the power of a voice in telling a story through musical theatre. I have been in six productions and have found my passion singing on stage. Whenever I sing I feel most like myself - happy and free. Congratulations, Evelyn!! And that’s a wrap for another fine Odin International Music Competition. Competitors were from Romania, China, Uk, USA, Canada, Slovenia, Thailand, Nigeria, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Mexico, The Netherlands, and Germany. Absolutely fierce singers kept this judge on her toes!

Hogging the camera since the age of 2, I knew musical theatre was for me! I auditioned for my first show, 101 Dalmatians: Kids, when I was 9, and have been performing ever since. Over the years, some favorite productions include Les Miserables, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, and The Phantom of the Opera. In college, I hope to continue acting and singing as well as creating original works and putting them up for audiences other than just my family -- haha. I can't thank Kathy enough for everything she's taught me and all of her support! Congratulations, Jonah!!! |
