In-Person Lessons: Most of the research coming out about Covid-19 and singing has been done by leaders in this field, many whom I know. Research indicates it is not safe currently to have in-person lessons without either one of us wearing a mask. Even with masks, risk is not eliminated. As singers, we need to take this very seriously because the impact from the coronavirus on our bodies and our industry can affect our ability to have careers. In my blog, you can read the direct research for yourself in the coronavirus section.
I am known for my technical skills and am good at identifying and correcting vocal flaws quickly. I work as well with voices recovering from illness and phonotrauma which can happen at any point during a singing career. I have also been successful retraining those who are looking to switch genres.
My teaching centers on singing, performing, and acting as one unified discipline. I filter traditional and current methods from Bel Canto to speech level through the lens of modern voice and performance science. With my individualized exercises, you will achieve your best in your chosen vocal style, from rock to opera.
I hold a BA (Summa Cum Laude) in Theatre, a BBA and a Masters (With Distinction) in Solo Voice Performance - emphasis on Musical Theatre and Vocal Pedagogy. I hold a Certificate in Vocology via the National Center of Voice and Speech and have received additional training in voice habilitation and the use of technology for voice analysis and correction. I am the proud recipient of a Joan Frey Boytim Award via The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS.) I am doing current research in voice science which includes technology as applied to voice training and specific medical conditions.
